Young hunter captures one of Lake County’s biggest bucks

Hagen Webster holds up the impressive rack of the buck he brought down on opening day of the season. Surrounded by his family, they were all “in awe” of its tremendous size.

Thirteen-year-old Hagen Webster, from Lakeview, went into the woods on Jim and Brenda Baldwin’s property in the Valley Falls area with a landowner youth rut tag on the opening day of the season in the late afternoon and he came out with an enormous catch.

Accompanied on the hunt by his father Nick Webster, mom Maryanne Webster, grandfather Cecil Webster, godfather Mike Hotchkiss and Hagan’s good friend Keith Stephens. According to Maryanne, the weather was miserable. “We had seen several small bucks throughout the day and then we came across a group of does and watched them for a few minutes,” she said, “This buck stepped out behind the trees and we could only see his right side.”

She said that Hagan has been hunting through the mentor youth program since he was nine. “Anyone that knows Hagen knows he lives to hunt, fish and trap,” she said, “He comes by it naturally.”

So when they caught sight of the buck approaching the does, even though they did not know exactly how big he was, Hagen knew to follow close. “(The buck) was following the does and had no idea we were even around,” Maryanne said about the buck, “He ended up going behind some trees and rocks and following a doe up a hillside which is where we caught up with him.” From about 80 yards away, while the buck still followed the doe and never suspected the band of hunters tracked him, Hagan took him down.

Stop Dirty Harry from Ramming
Gun Control Down our Throats

The Washington Post headline pretty much says it all: “Obama backs [Harry] Reid’s filibuster reform effort.”

 Wonder why?

Why, for instance, would Barack Obama support Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s efforts to change the Senate rules, by brute force, so that it would be easier?

To implement the UN Arms Trade      Treaty to register, ban, and microstamp firearms?

  • To reinstate the semi-auto ban?

  • Or, to allow Obama to turn      anyone into a “prohibited person” and take away their guns, simply by      putting them on a secret “watch list”?

To ask such questions is to answer them.  The political Left would love to disarm us all and take away our guns.  To wit, the nation had to endure Bob Costas’ rant over the weekend when he essentially suggested that otherwise law-abiding people shouldn’t have guns.

Click hear to see GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt’s answer and rebuke to Bob Costas for his ill-informed comments in the wake of the Javon Belcher suicide.

But, in order to push a progressive agenda through the Senate, Reid is first going to have to use his deceptive “cheat scheme” in order to change the Senate rules to make it easier to pass the Left’s anti-gun initiatives.

By eliminating the filibuster (on the motion to take up legislation), Reid intends to eliminate our most effective way to kill a bad anti-gun bill — that is, by weakening or eliminating the time-honored filibuster that makes the Senate so different from the House.

But, even more important, if Reid uses the “nuclear option,” as he’s threatening to do, the Senate no longer has any binding rules. The majority can pass any gun legislation it wants, at any time, by brute force, with 51 votes.

So, did your Senator run for re-election by telling you he or she supported the Second Amendment?  Well, this is their chance to prove it — or to show you that they’re nothing but bald-faced liars.

There will be no gun vote during the 113th Congress that will be more important than the rules votes.

And that is why it’s imperative that ALL GUN GROUPS are fighting this attempt to nuke the filibuster rules.  Please contact any gun organization that you belong to and ask them if they are actively lobbying against Dirty Harry’s efforts to weaken the filibuster … and against any attempt by him to ram gun control down the throats of the American people!

ACTION:  Click here to write your Senators. Insist that they vote against the anti-gun proposals to change the Senate rules.  And don’t forget to urge ANY and ALL pro-gun groups that you are affiliated with to take similar action, as well.

Massachusetts city announces: turn in your guns, get a free flu shot!

2nd Amendment rights, Gun rights & hunting

Sunday, December 02, 2012 by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger Editor of NaturalNews.com (See all articles…)

(NaturalNews) The city of Worcester, Massachusetts has one helluva deal for ya! Turn in your guns, and you’ll get a free flu shot in return.
It’s all part of the city’s annual “Goods for Guns Buyback Program” which sounds like an April Fools joke but actually isn’t.
So here’s how it works: You locate a firearm that might protect you from violent crime or even a runaway criminal government someday, and you bring it to the police department. Then they destroy your gun and in return for this, they assault you with mercury-laced vaccines and call it “even.”
Hmmm… gee, sounds like a bargain if you’re a brain-dead zombie. Me think guns bad, vaccines good, must destroy guns… take vaccine shots… watch TV… drink fluoride. Government GOOD!
What I’m trying to figure out here is how stupid the local Massachusetts government officials must be to think that residents will somehow figure this exchange is a good deal. It’s kind of like being offered something like: “You give me all your money, and I’ll punch you in the face. Deal?”
Or, “You hand over that nice car you’re driving, and I’ll shoot you in the stomach, and we’ll call it even.”
Hmmm… it deserves some consideration, no?

Massachusetts Economics 101

Oh, but it gets better. Not only do you get jabbed in the arm with a vaccine containing mercury, formaldehyde, MSG and aluminum, you also get economically sodomized in the exchange.
If you turn in a long rifle, typically valued at $200 – $1000, the government will also give you, in addition to the “free” vaccine shot, a $25 gift certificate.
If you turn in a handgun, typically valued anywhere from $200 – $600, the government will give you a $50 gift certificate.
And if you turn in an “assault rifle” semiautomatic weapon, valued these days at $1,000 – $3,000 or more, the government will hand you a whopping $75 gift certificate!
So not only do you get the privilege of being injected with a scientifically useless, fraudulent flu vaccine that actually harms your health; you also get to be financially ripped off by your own government at the same time!
We congratulate the city of Worcester, MA for its hat trick of triple tyranny. No other local government in the United States has put together a program that so completely destroys an individual’s freedom, health and assets all at once. Turn in your guns, you zombies! Rest assured all the criminals running around your town will find it endlessly amusing. (“Wow, the law-abiding citizens are disarming themselves!”)

Hunters more than halfway to 1st Wyo. wolf quota

2nd Amendment rights, Gun rights & hunting, Wolves

PNP comment: If wolf-lovers want to save the wolves, stop pushing establishing packs in areas where humans and livestock also need to live in a healthy environment. Wolves are plentiful. They are not endangered. Wolves reproduce rapidly. It is difficult to keep up with effectively managing their numbers. Yes, management means killing them. So if you want less killing of wolves, stop demanding their numbers must be increased. — Editor Liz Bowen

Idaho Statesman

                    Published: October 30, 2012

By MEAD GRUVER — Associated Press

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Hunters are easily on track to max out their kill limit for the first wolf season in Wyoming since the animals were reintroduced to the Yellowstone region in the 1990s.

That contrasts with Montana, which fell well short of its statewide limit last year and in a couple months is about to supplement hunting with trapping to help achieve its wolf population goals.

A trophy game season for wolves in the northwest corner of Wyoming outside Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks began Oct. 1 and ends Dec. 31. As of Tuesday, hunters had killed at least 27 wolves in that area toward the season limit of 52 animals.

Three wolf hunt areas in northwest Wyoming were closed to further hunting after kill limits in those local areas were reached. Might the limit for all 12 areas be reached by year’s end?

“It’s definitely possible. It’s really hard to predict that kind of thing, especially since this is the first time we’ve had a regulated wolf hunt in Wyoming,” Wyoming Game and Fish Department spokesman Eric Keszler said Tuesday.

Neither Idaho nor Montana has statewide wolf limits this year. In 2009, both states’ inaugural wolf seasons were cut short by a judge who suspended them. Montana and Idaho initiated their first full wolf hunting seasons in 2011.

In Wyoming, wolves were removed from endangered species protection for the first time in August. Of the three states, Wyoming is the only one with “dual classification” for wolves. In most of Wyoming, wolves can be killed on sight, without a license, any time of year.

In northwest Wyoming, wolves are classified as trophy game subject to licensed hunting during the new hunting season. Wildlife managers intentionally set a low limit for the first hunt in part because Wyoming has fewer wolves than Montana or Idaho.

“Also, this being our first season, we wanted to approach it fairly conservatively and be able to adaptively manage in the future based on how this first season goes,” Keszler said.

In Montana, hunters killed 166 wolves in 2011, far short of that year’s limit of 220. Montana ranchers and others eager to control the state’s wolf population looked to Idaho, where trappers helped reduce that state’s total estimated wolf population by at least one-third over a 10-month hunting season that began in August, 2011.

About one-third of the wolves killed were taken by trappers. Inspired in part by that success, Montana’s first wolf trapping season is scheduled for Dec. 15 through Feb. 28.

Wolf trapping could be introduced in Wyoming, depending on how this year’s hunting goes, but no decision about wolf trapping has been made in Wyoming yet, Keszler said.

More than 4,000 hunters have bought wolf licenses in Wyoming. Nobody has surveyed them, Keszler said, but it appears few have headed into the field specifically to kill a wolf.

“I think a large portion of people that are picking up a wolf license are in the area hunting elk or deer or something like that,” Keszler said, “and have picked one up just in case they see a wolf, as well.”

Armed posse patrols timber land in sheriff’s place

2nd Amendment rights, CA & OR, Gun rights & hunting, Sheriff Gil Gilbertson

PNP comment: Josephine County in neighboring Oregon has made the big time. This article was on Yahoo news page 10-17-12. — Editor Liz Bowen

By JEFF BARNARD | Associated Press – 14 hrs ago

In this Oct. 12, 2012, photo, Sam Nichols, left, and Glenn Woodbury pose in front of Woodbury's pickup in O'Brien, Ore. The two men are part of a newly-formed neighborhood watch that does armed patrols around the rural area to deter crime since budget cutbacks have left the Josephine County Sheriff's Office with just three patrol deputies and limited jail space. (AP Photo/Jeff Barnard)

O’BRIEN, Ore. (AP) — There’s no room in the county jail for burglars and thieves. And the sheriff’s department in a vast, rural corner of southwest Oregon has been reduced by budget cuts to three deputies on patrol eight hours a day, five days a week.

But people in this traditionally self-reliant section of timber country aren’t about to raise taxes to put more officers on the road. Instead, some folks in Josephine County, larger than the state of Rhode Island, are taking matters into their own hands — mounting flashing lights on their trucks and strapping pistols to their hips to guard communities themselves. Others have put together a virtual neighborhood watch, using Facebook to share tips and information.

“I believe in standing up for myself rather than waiting for the government to do something for me,” said Sam Nichols, a retired marina manager.

Nichols has organized a posse of about a dozen fed-up residents who have started patrolling the small community of O’Brien, which has about 750 residents.

“We call ourselves the CAC Patrol, Citizens Against Crime,” he said.

Separately, a retired sheriff’s deputy in a community about 10 miles away has started a Facebook page called “To Catch a Thief,” an open group that has nearly 1,200 members who post reports of crimes that aren’t priorities for the county sheriff’s office.

“In a rural community like this, we all know each other, and we’re all related,” said Carol Dickson, who started the group about three months ago and posts regularly.

“People know who’s doing this,” she said of the property crimes around Cave Junction, a town of nearly 2,000 people about 30 miles from the county seat of Grants Pass.

“They are getting tired of it,” Dickson said. “They are speaking up, and they are saying, ‘Enough.’”

Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson says he’s glad for the help but warns that law enforcement is dangerous work.

“They need to really understand there are consequences that can be very costly, physically as well as legally,” he said, explaining that volunteers could get sued or shot if they pull a gun on someone or make a false arrest.

“Most of them haven’t had what I feel is an adequate level of training to do that they do,” he said. “But if they serve as eyes and ears and only report what they see to law enforcement, I think they can keep themselves at a safe level.”

Policing expert Dennis Kenney, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, says neighborhood watch efforts can be positive but turn into problems when volunteers “decide that instead of supplementing law enforcement, they are going to replace law enforcement. Then you cross potentially into vigilantism.”

Kenney said vigilantes tend to get “out of control — especially when people are armed.”

He added that “people drawn to this sort of thing are the kinds of personalities more likely to take it too far.”

Nichols says what his group is doing is “not vigilantism at all.

“If it was, we would have taken care of a couple of problems a long time ago,” he added. “Because we knew who they were, and where they lived.”

Another CAC Patrol member, Glenn Woodbury, an electrical supplies distributor, wears a .45-caliber automatic pistol in a shoulder holster when he goes out. He says he carries the weapon only for protection and that members of the patrol consider it their primary responsibility to gather information, such as a license plate number, that would allow deputies to make an arrest.

Since the patrols started a few months ago, group members have reported a wildfire being set and someone trying to break into an SUV. The police log in the Grants Pass Daily Courier shows five thefts or burglaries in O’Brien from January through July, but none since August.

“These people know they no longer own the night,” Woodbury said of potential criminals.

“They can’t back a pickup up to somebody’s home when you’ve got patrols watching,” he added.

Please watch this short NRA video on the violence on the Mexican border; enrage, shake your head, and forward….

BTW; chalk up another Tea Party success story, and evidence of our growing strength: the movie “2016; Obama’s America” is #8 on the top-ten box office performers, but is #1 on week-end receipts per theater: $5,700.

This is with little or no promotion or advertising.  It’s success is attributed to word of mouth PR through the Tea Party chains.

Looks Like DHS Isn’t the Only Gov’t Agency Stockpiling Ammunition

Federal gov & land grabs, Gun rights & hunting
Posted in: Weapons Ban | , by
2b460200abf0aa5cf5c960bc9352fdc6

By James Smith – activistpost.com

There are two stories that have come to light recently, the first is the awarding of a contract to a munitions manufacturer for 450,000,000 hollow point rounds for the .40 caliber. The second story which I wrote, is how the Department of Homeland Security had already ordered 200,000,000 rounds of .40 caliber, but also ordered 15,000 gun cleaning kits for the .40 caliber weapons, and has put a request out for a virtual shooting gallery for the .40 caliber handguns.

650,000,000 round of ammunition is quite a bit of lead and brass. It will sure to drive the price of copper and brass way up. But Homeland Security is not alone in their requests. The other departments, the ones that handle mundane things like meat quality – believe they need to be armed to the teeth. It’s enough to make a non-paranoid person, well, paranoid.

The US Department of Agriculture put a bid in for a wide variety of ammunition. I guess raiding farms and raw milk dairies can be VERY dangerous work. The required rounds are listed below, and include shotgun slugs.

Frangible rounds – for those who don’t know, are rounds that are designed to break apart when they hit walls or other hard surfaces to prevent ricochets during close-quarters combat.

Added: Sep 28, 2011 5:15 pm

(1) 40 caliber, 180 grain, 120,000 rounds or equivalent,
(2) 9 mm, 124 grain, 50,000 rounds or equivalent,
(3) .38 caliber, 135 grain, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(4) .380 caliber, 90 grain, 6,000 rounds or equivalent,
(5) .223 caliber, 64 grain, 87,500 rounds or equivalent,
(6) 12 gauge 00 buck, 15,000 rounds or equivalent,
(7) 40 caliber frangible, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(8) 9 caliber frangible, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(9) .223 caliber frangible, 10,000 rounds or equivalent,
(10) 12 gauge 1 oz slug, 7,500 rounds or equivalent

The cartridges shall be delivered to Albuquerque, NM.

And the Department of the Interior needs ammunition as well, but much less, and put the order out on September 2011:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services require the following items, Exact Match Only, to the following:

1. Remington Frangible .40 Caliber Pistol Ammunition – 2,500 rounds

2. Remington .40 Caliber Pistol Ammunition (180 grain) Full Metal Jacket – 6,000 rounds

3. Remington .223 Caliber Rifle Ammunition (62 grain) Full Metal Jacket – 3,000 rounds

4. Remington FX Marking Cartridges (9 mm) – 2,000 rounds

These requirements seem normal considering the possibility of running into grizzly bears and wolverines. These, to me, are acceptable quantities to order.

And of course the FBI needs about 100,000,000 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition for law enforcement needs. It posted the request November 15, 2011 and the order will be awarded this week. Oddly, it states a fixed price indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity type contract; however the pricing requirements go up to 100,000,000 rounds.

So with that large order, we now can move the total “excess” number of .40 caliber rounds that is needed by this administration to 750,000,000 rounds.

Because we live in a free society they feel they must be armed against Amish folk who want to sell people raw milk, like most humans on this planet drink. Maybe the USDA needs the ammunition to fight the evil cadre of “Lemonade Stands” that will soon be terrorizing people walking down sidewalks in Suburbia America.

How can a government justify 2.2 rounds per American citizen? Granted, ammunition does have a great shelf life, but this is utterly ridiculous!

URGENT ALERT!!! Arm(as in gun)-megeddon in August

2nd Amendment rights, Gun rights & hunting

PNP guest comment: Gun Owners of California does not send out many URGENT action items.  PLEASE take the time to read and follow this alert.  Legislation in August will be fast, furious a really dirty.  Watch your email carefully and stay plugged in to the organizations giving you timely information … especially in CA.  There is a lot that happens at the end of the session.  If they don’t pass by Aug 31st the bills die.  In the next 30 days our constitutional freedoms need your prayers!!! — Erin Ryan

 SB 249 – California

Gun Owners of   California has just received a copy of draft amendments from Senator Leland   Yee (D-San Francisco) for SB 249 and our worst fears have been   realized.  They are a disaster.  Even though California’s “Assault   Weapons Control Act” is a violation of the 2nd Amendment, law-abiding   citizens have complied with the “AWCA” and have followed the letter of the   law.  Even California’s Attorney General has supported the legality of   bullet buttons in the courts.

By clarifying the   intent of the legislature, this bill (with the amendments below) will in   essence define a “detachable magazine” in statue and will erase the   definition that is presently found in regulations.  The Attorney General   will have no choice but to reverse their position and declare possession of   bullet buttons and bullet button guns as a felony violation of the CA Penal   Code. That means hundreds of thousands if not over 1,000,000 guns in   possession by law abiding citizens will be illegal on January 1, 2013 if this   bill becomes law.

Law enforcement   officer’s personal guns will not be exempt under this bill.

It is of the utmost   importance that you call the members of the Assembly Appropriations Committee   and politely ask them to oppose SB 249 as an unconstitutional attack on our   2nd Amendment rights and our 5th Amendment rights according to their own   legislative counsel.

Use this link to get a   list of committee members: http://apro.assembly.ca.gov/membersstaff

Gun Owners of California needs your help more than ever.  Go to our   website, www.gunownersca.com to sign a petition against SB 249 and become a member   of GOC.  Print out the petition, and get your friends to sign it. We   would like to receive all signed petitions by August 10th so that we can use   them in defense of our Second Amendment rights.

This is not a drill,   it’s the real thing…

SB 249 Draft   Language:

SECTION ONE:

It is the intent of   the Legislature to clarify that the term “detachable magazine” as used in   Penal Code section 30515 includes a magazine that may be detached by merely   depressing a button on the firearm either with a finger or by use of a tool   or bullet. This is a clarification of existing law.

SECTION TWO:

Amend Penal Code   section 30515 to add:

Subdivision (d) For   purposes of this section, “detachable magazine” means any ammunition feeding   device that can be removed readily from the firearm without disassembly of   the firearm action.

Subdivision (e) The   Attorney General is directed to bring existing regulations into conformity with   this section.

This section shall   become effective on July 1, 2013.

Google Goes Anti-Gun

2nd Amendment rights, Gun rights & hunting

PNP comment: I have been concerned over their lack of good ol’ fashioned patriotism, when they doodle their” Google” on holidays and events. — Editor Liz Bowen

From Godfather Politics.com

posted on by

Mountain View, California is home to Google, the most popular search engine on the Internet.  Started in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google has grown exponentially with the rampant addiction to the Internet.

In the most recent news from Google, they have announced that they will be excluding firearms and other weapons from their shopping search results.  In a letter sent out to firearms retailers, Google stated that their new policy was made to help ensure family safety and comply with legal regulations.

What part of family safety are they referring to?  They can’t be referring to the type of family safety like that of a Phoenix, Arizona family.  An intruder broke into a house carrying a rifle.  A 14 year old boy was home babysitting his younger siblings at the time of the break in and used a family gun to shoot the intruder, thus protecting the safety of his family.

I’ve personally known people who have had to pull a gun out to protect themselves or their families from others that intended to harm them.  Some years back, I was driving alone on the highway when a car full of Hispanics began harassing me.  I did everything I could to get away from them, but they were relentless and began to try to force me off the side of road.  That was when I pulled out my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag revolver and aimed it at them.  They hit their brakes, slowed down, turned around and drove away.  Without the gun to protect myself, I may have ended up several hundred feet down in the canyon that bordered the highway.

Nah, that’s not the family safety Google is talking about.  They believe that legally purchased guns are responsible for domestic violence, so in order to protect families from one another, Google will no longer help families locate and purchase a gun to protect themselves from intruders.

On the Google home page, they give a list of ten things that they know to be true and seem to be of utmost importance to them.  In light of the anti-gun news from Google, I find items 1 and 4 on their list to be hypocritical.
