Assemblyman Dan Logue has withdrawn from the race for the 4th District state Senate seat, he announced Monday.
“It’s kind of unexpected,” Logue said. “It’s very, very, very disappointing for me.”
He said dropping out of the race came at the advice of his doctors as Logue, 62, recovers from kidney failure caused by medication to treat chronic gout. Logue was unaware of an allergic reaction to the medication until a recent campaign stop in
Mount Shasta, he said.
“The bottom line is he was directed to change his medication and slow down,” said Cliff Wagner, Logue’s campaign manager.
Logue was running to fill the seat left empty by former state
Sen. Doug LaMalfa, who resigned his post to seek the seat opened by
Congressman Wally Herger‘s retirement.

Los Angeles – Our series “Saving the California Dream” looks at what’s working in our state economy and what’s not.
Here, we hear from Dan Logue, a Republican Assemblyman who led a bipartisan tour of other states to figure out how to bring jobs back to California.
Dan Logue, Assemblyman, R-Penn Valley
“2012 is going to be a defining year for the people of California. The only way we can fix this is the people to rise up en masse and say, ‘We’re not gonna take it anymore. If you don’t vote for jobs, we’re gonna vote you out.’”
Dan Logue, Assemblyman, R-Penn Valley
“If we continue to create an agenda that’s radical and hostile to business and basically puts families out of work and moves them out of their homes, that’s what’s at risk right now.”
Dan Logue, Assemblyman, R-Penn Valley
“And when they lay off another 30,000 teachers because of this agenda, they need to look at these people who pass these laws and crush and destroy the future of California.”
Dan Logue, Assemblyman, R-Penn Valley
“I realized this year when they tried to unionize babysitters, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Dan Logue, Assemblyman, R-Penn Valley
“If we continue down this path, we’re gonna be Greece in the next 24 months and we can actually pull the country down.”
