Fire update from Stan Meager 8-14-12

FIRES

This is Tuesday about 5:30 p.m.  I just drove up the road to the fire camps to see how things were progressing.  So far there has been no wind and that’s good.  The fire is just burning along the ground, but it’s the biggest of the three fire complex.  There is a West running finger that has crossed the back part of our neighbors and is now touching the back of our property.  It will be okay if it just burns along the ground slowly.  It will clean a lot of underbrush out and kill lots of ticks some bugs.

If that wind raises just a little bit them were going to have problems.  We have 17 acres here and this fire is now right at the tip of our northernmost part of the property.  It won’t take long to run through the rest of it if the wind picks up.  The wind is so unpredictable around here, you never know what it’s going to do.  We just have to sit tight and wait in see.  It has cleaned up a lot of the brush beside the road about a mile upriver from here, looks pretty good.

Beck Urges More Local Action Against UN’s Agenda 21

The Blaze

Wednesday night’s Glenn Beck Program focused considerable time on the UN’s Agenda 21 (AG21) and how local 9/12 groups and Tea Parties are successfully pushing back against it. If you are not familiar with it, AG21 is the UN’s 20-year old plan to eliminate private property and establish a one-world government through radical environmentalism.

Beck Talks to Local Tea Party Activists About Agenda 21The Blaze has covered Agenda 21 extensively for over a year, starting with an introductory article back in June of 2011 and a cover story on The Blaze Magazine in January of this year. Reports on AG21 and its infiltration of America through the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, ICLEI have inspired many people to become involved on a local basis.

Watch Glenn talk with the 9/12 Project’s Maria Acosta, Amy Kremer of the Tea Party Express, and author Rosa Koire about Agenda 21 and the progress being made against this attack on our freedoms and right to own private property.

Wildfires blaze across West, burning homes

FIRES

By SHANNON DININNY | Associated Press – 5 hrs ago

CLE ELUM, Wash. (AP) — A fast-moving wildfire in central Washington has burned at least 60 homes and forced hundreds of people to flee — one of several blazes scorching the West on Tuesday, threatening communities, sending up thick plumes of smoke and disrupting activity in national parks.

Fire commanders estimate the Washington blaze has burned at least 24,000 acres — about 38 square miles — since it started Monday afternoon east of the small town of Cle Elum.

No injuries have been reported, but more than 400 people have been evacuated, said Department of Natural Resources Fire Incident Commander Rex Reed. The fire crept within six miles of Ellensburg, about 75 miles east of Seattle.

The blaze, which began at a bridge construction site, is not contained. And authorities worried about wind and heat, saying the fire danger was extreme.

“We’ve had a long prolonged dry period — three weeks with no precipitation at all,” Reed said.

Joe Seemiller, a captain in Kittitas County Fire and Rescue, said gusty winds were hampering Washington firefighters.

“Unless Mother Nature helps us out here, we’re going to be fighting this awhile,” Seemiller said.

In Idaho, a firefighter was killed by a falling tree Sunday. Anne Veseth, a 20-year-old who was in her second season as a firefighter, died as she worked a fire near Orofino, the U.S. Forest Service said. Her older brother also is a wild-land firefighter in Idaho, where 12 blazes are burning.

A crew in central Washington state barely outran flames Monday at the wind-driven fire in Kittitas County. The firefighters managed to drive to safety as they got ahead of the Taylor Bridge fire, said Richelle Risdon, a county fire spokeswoman.

Near Cle Elum, Wash., some property at a chimpanzee sanctuary burned. The seven chimps at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest are fine, but they seemed bewildered by the smoke and the changes in their routine brought by the blaze that burned within a couple hundred feet of their building, a spokeswoman said.

In Utah, a lightning-sparked fire consumed about 34 square miles, threatened a herd of wild horses and shut down the historic Pony Express Road in the state’s western desert.

In Northern California, crews made progress against an aggressive blaze in Lake County that grew to more than 9 square miles and destroyed three buildings. Officials lifted evacuation orders for the residents of nearly 500 homes late Monday, said Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

“The fire is still actively burning, but burning in a remote area,” Berlant said. “It’s burning in brush that’s tinder dry and hasn’t seen a fire in decades.”

NOAA Requests Ammunition For The Weather Service

Federal gov & land grabs

August 13, 2012 Filed under Tyranny Posted by James Smith

By James Smith

On 9 Aug 2012, the Department of Commerce, for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration by way of the National Weather Service, put out a solicitation for a small variety of ammunition.

The solicitation breaks down the requirements:

  • 16,000 rounds of ammunition      for semiautomatic pistols to be factory-loaded .40 S&W caliber,      180-grain jacketed hollow point (JHP).

  • 6,000 rounds of frangible,      125-grain CFRHT .40 caliber.

  • 24,000 rounds of ammunition      for semiautomatic pistols to be factory-loaded .40 S&W caliber,      180-grain jacketed hollow point (JHP).

In all, 40,000 rounds of ammunition, and only 500 Transtar II blue 24″ x 40″ targets are being ordered.

All the ammunition and targets are being spread out over the US to three locations, Ellsworth ME, New Bedford MA, Wall NJ, and St. Petersburg, FL. Only the 24,000 rounds are being sent to Florida, no targets will be shipped there.

This all comes after the Department of Homeland Security requested a contract with manufactures for over 63,000,000 rounds rounds over the next 4 years.

And this raises other questions?

  1. Could not the US Government      simply re-allot the ammunition from DHS to DOC?

  2. What is it about being a      weather person requires the training and use of a firearm?

  3. What future event is coming      that makes the National Weather Service believes it needs to train and arm      it’s employees?

We will report more about this as developments come in. See the video below for the 63 million rounds being requested.

Buffalo Activists Push Lawmakers To Ban Surveillance Drones

Steve Watson

A group of activists in Buffalo, New York are pushing local officials to ban the use of unmanned surveillance drones over the city and set a precedent that the rest of the country can follow.

Last week saw the Common Council Legislation Committee of Buffalo hold a public hearing on the use of the aerial vehicles.

Activists from Occupy Buffalo and the Western New York Peace Center attended the meeting and addressed the committee, urging them to prohibit government and law enforcement use of drones.

“You guys have an opportunity to make Buffalo the first drone-free city in the United States, and I hope you take that seriously,” John Washington of Occupy Buffalo told lawmakers.

“Drone manufacturers will push this hard on you and other elected officials, They will say that one of the reasons [for drones] is fighting crime,” said Charles Bowman of the Western New York Peace Center.

“We don’t need drones in the City of Buffalo. We don’t need further militarization of our police department,” he added.

Buffalo News.com notes that the activists have submitted legislation to the council that would ban city officials from purchasing, leasing, borrowing, testing or deploying drones on the grounds that they are a threat to the public and violate constitutional rights.

“Drones present an unreasonable and unacceptable threat to public safety in the air and to persons and property on the ground … due to limitations in drone vision, capability to avoid other aircraft and adequate control,” the legislation states, highlighting the fact that drones are not currently allowed to fly in U.S. airspace without an FAA permit because they don’t have the technology to prevent mid-air collisions.

“Armed drones and surveillance drones present an unreasonable and unacceptable threat to the rights of individual privacy, freedom of association and assembly, equal protection and judicial due process …” the legislation also notes.

The activists continued their case outside City Hall by handing out flyers, and displaying a scale model of a predator drone (pictured above) while reading facts about the technology over a loud speaker to passers by.
